Dr. Steven Estrella of Shearspire, Inc. has created the Shearspire MP3 Player as a memberware product. You must be a member of MakePages.com to use the Shearspire MP3 Player on your Web site.
Here is a sample MP3 file embedded on this page using the Shearspire MP3 Player. The SWF file, joplin.swf, that loads on this page is quite small (only 12 kilobytes). The actual MP3 file, joplin.mp3, is not downloaded until the visitor clicks the play button.
Right click (control-click on Mac) on this page and choose the option to view the source code of this frame. On some older browsers you can choose "View Source" from the View menu of your Web browser to view the code of this frame as well. Then create a page of your own called "audioflashembedding.htm." You will need one MP3 file for this assignment. If you don't one that you can legally use, just use the Scott Joplin MP3 file on this page. Right-click (control-click on Mac) this link and then download the MP3 file to your hard drive. You can do the same to download the joplin.swf file using this link. Store the files in the same folder as audioflashembedding.htm. Embedding audio with Flash requires all related files to be in the same folder to ensure compatibility with all recent versions of the Flash plugin on both Macintosh and Windows.
